12V 40ST Compact Below Deck Electric Full Stainless Winch with Variable Speed
With Andersen Compact Motor™ electric winches, any crew member can hoist and trim sails easily and safely at the push of a button, regardless of physical strength.
Easy Installation
The Andersen Compact Motor™ electric winch comes in two formats for above - or below - deck motor placement. The motor gearbox and controller are combined into one compact unit, no extra control box needed. Electrical installation is simple: just connect positive and negative power cables to the motor terminals and use the included output cable to connect the push button.
Efficient Variable Speed
The Andersen Compact Motor™ is a brushless DC motor paired with a low - profile planetary gearbox. It takes up less space and uses less current than traditional setups. Available in 12V and 24V models, these winches operate at variable speeds according to the pressure on the push button, offering smooth and quiet performance.
Illuminated 'Intelligent' Push Button
The winches come with a push button having an integrated LED that lights up when the winch system is powered on. It has a hinged safety cover to prevent accidental operation and is water - resistant (IP67). The push button works with the controller to flash status codes for troubleshooting in case of overload or system protection activation. A connection cable is included for easy installation.
Built - in Protection
- Integrated overload protection: The controller stops the winch if the maximum pull load is exceeded and resumes operation within seconds when the load is below the limit.
- Thermal overload protection: The motor has a thermal cutout that shuts it off when overheated and resets automatically when the temperature is normal.
Like all ANDERSEN Winches™, our Compact Motor™ Electric Winch features the exclusive stainless - steel Power Rib™ drum for high power and long line life. It also uses an exclusive self - tailing device that fits a wide range of line sizes.

Quick Guide (pdf)
Using the ANDERSEN 12V Variable Speed 40ST Compact Below Deck Electric FS Winch is a breeze. To operate, just press the push button, and the winch will start hoisting or trimming sails. The speed can be adjusted by how hard you press the button. When installing, first decide if you want to place the motor above or below the deck. Then, connect the power cables to the motor terminals and use the included cable to connect the push button. It's important to make sure the connections are secure. Regarding safety, never operate the winch without the hinged safety cover on the push button. This will prevent accidental starts. If the winch stops due to overload or overheating, don't worry. It will resume working on its own once the situation is normal. For maintenance, regularly check the power cables for any signs of wear and tear. Also, keep the winch clean and dry to ensure its long - term performance. If you encounter any issues, the push button can flash status codes to help you troubleshoot.
