ResQFlare PRO
The buoyant ResQFlare PRO electronic flare meets RTCM 13200.00 requirements and is an Electronic Visual Distress Signal Device (eVDSD). It uses multi - color SOS distress signaling, with red - orange and cyan LEDs for excellent visibility on water. The added infrared (IR) component boosts visibility when Search and Rescue uses Night Vision equipment.
It emits the International Morse Code for S - O - S. The first “S” is three red - orange LED flashes, “O” is three cyan LED flashes, and the last “S” is another three red - orange LED flashes. The IR part flashes the same pattern, optimized for Night Vision Goggles (NVG). Despite many flashes, high light intensity, and a wide light distribution range (Luminous angle ≥180°), it has an operational life of at least three hours, 50% more than RTCM requirements.
Meeting 46 CFR 161.013, it's an approved Night Visual Distress Signal. Each ResQFlare PRO comes with a Distress Flag (meeting 46 CFR 160.072), an approved Day Visual Distress Signal. The flag offers many daylight signaling options, like flying it on a mast, hoisting it high, holding it by hand, or laying it on the deck.
It also includes a bracket and mounting hardware for easy installation on the vessel. There's a 1 - meter lanyard under the black Velcro strap, which can tether the flare to a person or life raft in an emergency.
In the U.S., carrying the ResQFlare PRO and Distress Flag together lets boaters on recreational vessels up to 65’ long skip traditional pyrotechnic flares in certain waters. Vessels under 16’ need only a Night Visual Distress Signal, making this flare a great alternative. In Canada, it can replace pyrotechnic flares when carried with an approved smoke signal.
With consistent light distribution and a burn time 15 times longer than average pyrotechnic flares, the ResQFlare PRO is the top choice.

Quick Guide (pdf)
Using the ResQFlare PRO is simple. First, make sure to insert 8 user - replaceable 123 Lithium Batteries (not included) into the device. When you need to signal for help, manually activate the flare. The device will start emitting the SOS signal with red - orange and cyan LEDs, along with an infrared pattern for night vision equipment.
If you're in the water, the flare will float and right itself automatically. In daylight, use the included Distress Flag. You can fly it on the mast, hoist it high, hold it by hand, or lay it on the deck. Just remember, when using the flag, the black square should be over the black circle.
For mounting, use the provided bracket and mounting hardware to attach the flare to your vessel. In an emergency, you can use the 1 - meter lanyard (under the black Velcro strap) to tether the flare to a person or life raft.
Keep in mind that this product may not be returned to the original point of purchase. If you have any issues, contact the manufacturer directly. Also, store the flare in a dry place. Check the batteries regularly and replace them if needed to ensure it's always ready for use.
