Quick Guide (pdf)

Using your C.E. Smith 70 Series rod holder is a breeze. First, make sure you have the Model # 53679 Installation Socket. Drill a 2 - 3/16 in. hole on your boat where you want to install the rod holder. Place the backing plate on the underside of the hole, then insert the rod holder through the hole from the top. Use the installation nut to secure it tightly. When using, just place your fishing rod in the holder. Remember, since it has a 0 - degree angle, it's great for a straight - up fishing position. For maintenance, regularly wipe it with a clean cloth to keep the stainless steel shiny. Avoid using abrasive cleaners as they may scratch the surface. Also, check the drain hole periodically to ensure it's not clogged. That way, your rod holder will serve you well for a long time.
