Product Detail

Blue Sea Systems presents the 285-Series 80A panel-mount circuit breaker, model 7086-BSS. It's a perfect drop-in replacement for 185-Series circuit breakers. With a visible reset lever, you can easily see the open condition. This breaker is ignition protected, making it safe for gasoline-powered boats. It meets SAE J1171 external ignition protection requirements and is weather-resistant. It combines switching and circuit breaker functions in one unit (but don't use it as a switch for high inrush currents). It's 'trip free', so it can't be held closed after tripping. Specifications include 80A amperage, 48V DC maximum voltage, surface mounting, a thermally responsive bi-metal blade, 60 in-lb (6.78 Nm) terminal stud torque, 3000A @ 48V interrupt capacity, -40°C minimum and 85°C maximum operating temperatures, Type III circuit breaker class, and an M6 terminal stud that accepts a 1/4' ring terminal.

Using the Blue Sea 285-Series 80 Amp Panel-Mount Circuit Breaker is easy. First, make sure it's the right fit for your setup as it's a drop - in replacement for 185 - Series breakers. Mount it on a suitable surface following the surface - mount instructions. Connect the wires to the M6 terminal stud, tightening them to 60 in - lb (6.78 Nm) torque. Remember, don't use it as a switch when you expect high inrush currents. If the breaker trips, the visible reset lever will show the open condition. You can manually reset it. Keep it in an environment with temperatures between - 40°C and 85°C. It's weather - resistant, but try to avoid extremely harsh conditions. Periodically check the connections for tightness and look for any signs of wear. If you notice any issues, replace the breaker to ensure continued safety and performance.
