Using the Abu Garcia MAX X Low Profile Baitcast Reel is a breeze. First, make sure the reel is properly attached to your fishing rod. Since it has a right - handed handle, hold the rod with your left hand and use your right hand to operate the reel. When casting, release the spool using the spool release button and aim your cast. The MagTrax™ brake system helps control the speed of the spool during casting, so you can adjust it according to your needs. For retrieving, simply turn the handle clockwise. The Power Disk™ drag system allows you to adjust the resistance when a fish is pulling on the line. Just turn the star drag on the side of the reel to increase or decrease the drag. As for maintenance, after each use, rinse the reel with fresh water to remove any salt, sand, or debris. Make sure to dry it thoroughly before storing.
