Using this Beckson Twist-out Deck Plate is easy. First, make sure to cut a 5 - 1/2' hole as specified. Then, place the plate in position. To open it, just give the cover a 1/8 twist and lift it from the center. When closing, align the cover and twist it back until it locks. As for maintenance, the self - cleaning bayonet threads reduce the need for much cleaning, but it's a good idea to check the sealing areas regularly.
