Product Detail

Blue Sea Systems presents the 285-Series 120A surface-mounted circuit breaker, model 7188-BSS. It's a direct replacement for 185-Series breakers. The visible reset lever clearly shows the open condition. It's ignition protected, making it safe for gasoline-powered boats and meeting SAE J1171 requirements. Weather-resistant and combining switching and circuit breaker functions in one unit, it's 'Trip Free' - can't be held closed after tripping. But don't use it as a switch for high inrush currents. Specifications include 120A amperage, 48V DC max voltage, surface mounting, thermally responsive bi-metal blade, 50 in-lb terminal stud torque, 3000A interrupt capacity, -40°C to 85°C operating temperature range, Type III class, and M6 terminal stud (accepts 1/4' ring terminal).

Using the Blue Sea 285-Series 120 Amp Surface-Mounted Circuit Breaker is straightforward. First, make sure it's properly surface-mounted as specified in the installation guide. Connect it to the right electrical circuits according to the amperage and voltage requirements. The visible reset lever helps you easily check the status. When it trips, just reset it to get the circuit working again. Remember, don't use it as a switch when you expect high inrush currents. For maintenance, keep it clean and dry. Check the connections regularly to ensure they're tight. If you notice any signs of damage or overheating, replace the breaker right away. It can operate in temperatures from -40°C to 85°C, but avoid extreme conditions as much as possible. That way, your circuit breaker will serve you well for a long time.
